SPECIAL WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR NEW YEAR 2026
(31 December 2025 - 01 January 2026)

The weather systems that are expected to affect the country during the New Year celebration are the Shear Line, Northeast Monsoon or Amihan, and Easterlies.

On Wednesday (31 December), the Shear Line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Quezon and Camarines Norte, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon due to the Amihan. The rest of Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Palawan will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy apart from isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the Easterlies.

On Thursday (01 January), cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Aurora and Quezon due to the Shear Line, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will continue over Ilocos Region, CAR, and Cagayan Valley due to the Amihan. Bicol Region will be cloudy with scattered rains and thunderstorms while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will remain partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the Easterlies.

Throughout the forecast period, moderate to strong northeasterly winds will prevail over Northern Luzon with moderate to rough seas. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas.
