READY TO SERVE: DOST-PAGASA Produces Forty-One New Meteorological Technicians
In response to the rising challenge of unpredictable weather and climate in the country, DOST-PAGASA produced another batch of well-equipped meteorological technicians, recognized on August 4, 2026, at the PAGASA Regional Training Centre in Quezon City during the Meteorological Technician Training Course (MTTC) 2026 Closing Ceremony.
After a three-month intensive training program on weather and climate monitoring, forty-one trainees of Batch P-74, representing various regions, divisions, and the Philippine Coast Guard, graduated from the program.
DOST-PAGASA Deputy Administrators Dr. Marcelino Q. Villafuerte II and Ms. Shirley J. David, and division chiefs delivered congratulatory messages to the graduates during the ceremony, emphasizing their vital roles in disaster risk reduction and public safety.
The event was also graced by Philippine Coast Guard Affiliate Mr. Rodie Leo A. Mariñas and guest speaker and former Officer-in-Charge of DOST-PAGASA Dr. Esperanza Cayanan, who delivered a reflective and inspirational message to the MTTC graduates.
The ceremony further emphasized the agency’s continued commitment to training and honing capable personnel in the region in accordance with the standards of the World Meteorological Organization, ensuring timely and relevant weather and climate information for all.
