Advancing Regional Resilience through Collaboration
DOST-PAGASA, in partnership with the UK Met Office, is currently hosting the Weather and Climate Science for Service Partnership – Southeast Asia (WCSSP SeA) Regional Workshop from May 18–21, 2026, in Mactan, Cebu.
The regional workshop serves as an important platform for scientists, forecasters, and institutional partners across Southeast Asia and the United Kingdom to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and strengthen regional collaboration. It also supports the continued development of joint research initiatives aimed at improving weather and climate models, as well as forecasting capabilities across the region.
This year’s theme, “A Decade of Collaboration in Weather and Climate: From Scientific Innovations to Effective and Actionable Forecast Applications,” highlights ten years of partnership among countries in Southeast Asia and the UK Met Office in advancing the understanding of large-scale and convective-scale weather and climate science. It also emphasizes the importance of translating scientific advancements into effective warnings, forecasts, and actionable advice for communities and decision-makers.
The workshop likewise aims to discuss future plans for ongoing projects within the Southeast Asian region and identify opportunities for collaboration with other potential partners. This partnership further demonstrates the role of DOST-PAGASA as one of the region’s leading institutions in promoting the advancement of weather and climate services.
