EMPOWERING OUR SCHOOLS
This National Resilience Month, DOST-PAGASA brought its MAAGAP Awareness Seminar to the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office of Pasig City at Tanghalang Rizal, Rizal High School, Pasig City, on July 21, 2026.
Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Jay F. Macasieb, CESO VI, warmly welcomed teachers, school heads, School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) coordinators, and PTA officers, emphasizing the importance of disaster awareness and preparedness.
Participants gained valuable insights on weather, climate, rainfall, tropical cyclones, flooding, and heat index through lectures delivered by DOST-PAGASA weather experts Ms. Sharon Julet M. Arruejo, Engr. Christopher F. Perez, Ms. Rosalie C. Pagulayan, Ms. Mary May Victoria M. Calimoso, Ms. Jorybell A. Masallo, and Engr. Remedios L. Ciervo.
The activity also featured interactive exhibits showcasing DOST-PAGASA’s weather products and services. One of the highlights was the Flood Simulator: Virtual Reality Terrain, where participants experienced flood hazards firsthand through an immersive and engaging activity.
